In August 2025, the industrial production index in Chile experienced a decline of 1.9% compared to the same month the previous year. This downturn reversed the 1% growth seen in July, marking the first instance of contraction since February. The decrease was primarily attributable to a 6.3% annual reduction in mineral production, with a notable drop in copper output further exacerbating global supply challenges. Additionally, utility generation decreased by 0.6% on an annual basis. On the brighter side, manufacturing output saw an increase of 1.8%, closely aligning with market expectations of a 1.9% rise, though it was a slowdown from the 2.7% growth recorded in July. When adjusted for seasonal variations, the overall industrial output was marginally higher by 0.1% compared to the previous month.
