Colombia Manufacturing PMI Eases in September

In September 2025, the Davivienda Colombia Manufacturing PMI registered a decrease to 52.0 from the previous month's 55.3. This indicates a slower expansion, following a three-year peak, yet it concludes the finest quarter for the sector since the second quarter of 2022. There was a moderation in the growth of output, purchasing, and employment, which coincided with new business inflows rising at their slowest rate since April, indicative of competitive pressures and pricing challenges. While advertising efforts and the acquisition of new clients gave sales a boost, the overall momentum diminished. Factory output continued to grow at a strong, albeit reduced, pace, with inventory levels dropping due to planned maintenance activities, reduced working hours, and order fulfilment requirements. Employment figures went up during the month, though at a diminished rate, as backlogs experienced a decline for the first time in five months. Cost pressures eased for the third consecutive month, with inflation reaching its lowest point since April 2024, as the savings from cheaper metals, polyethylene, and resin counteracted the increased costs of chemicals and food.
