Italian Unemployment Rate Ticks Up to 6%

In August 2025, Italy's unemployment rate saw a slight increase to 6%, up from July's 5.9%, which was the lowest since April 2007. This aligns with market forecasts. Despite this rise, the figures continue to indicate a persistently tight labor market, setting Italy apart from other major Eurozone economies. The number of unemployed grew by 0.4% to 1.531 million, marking the lowest since April 2007. Concurrently, total employment experienced a decline of 0.2%, totaling 24.17 million. Additionally, the labor force contracted by 0.2% to 25.701 million, although it remains significantly above its long-term average.
