Irish Services Growth Hits 4-Month High

The AIB Ireland Services PMI increased to 53.5 in September 2025, up from August's 19-month low of 50.6. This marked the first rise in four months and indicated the most rapid expansion in the services sector since May. Both output and new business saw their quickest growth in four months. Furthermore, there was a solid rebound in employment, recovering from previous job losses in August. In September, three sectors experienced growth in activity. The technology, media, and telecoms sector witnessed the most significant expansion, marking its strongest performance in two years. In contrast, the transport, tourism, and leisure sector experienced its seventh consecutive monthly decline. Regarding pricing, input cost inflation climbed to a six-month high, primarily due to increasing expenses in wages, energy, freight, food, fuel, and travel. Consequently, selling prices rose at their fastest rate in four months and remained above the long-term average. Lastly, while there was an improvement in sentiment, it continued to fall below the long-term survey trend amid ongoing global economic and geopolitical uncertainties.
