The inflation rate in Georgia climbed to 4.8% in September 2025, up from 4.6% in August, reaching its highest level since March 2023. This uptick was largely driven by increased costs in the categories of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose to 11.9% from 10.0% in August, as well as in restaurants and hotels, where prices increased to 7.1% from 6.8%, and housing and utilities, which inched up to 0.9% from 0.8%. Conversely, the decline in prices eased in areas such as clothing and footwear, where the decrease slowed to -2.0% from -2.9%, and transport, which saw a reduction to -2.1% from -2.4%. Meanwhile, inflation rates decelerated for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, dropping to 4.1% from 4.7%, as well as in the health sector, down to 9.0% from 9.3%, education, reducing to 2.8% from 4.6%, and miscellaneous goods and services, which fell to 4.3% from 5.5%. However, deflation intensified in the sectors of furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance, which saw a greater decline to -3.7% from -1.4%, and in recreation and culture, which decreased to -1.3% from -0.2%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 0.5% in September, following a 0.3% increase in August.
