Vietnam Economy Grows 8.22% in Q3

Vietnam's economy witnessed a robust annual growth of 8.22% in the third quarter of 2025, coinciding with the implementation of a 20% tariff on US imports of Vietnamese products. This marks an acceleration from the 7.96% growth observed in the second quarter. "This represents the highest quarterly growth rate since 2011, apart from the exceptional surge in 2022 driven by post-COVID-19 recovery," the government stated in a release, quoting Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang, as reported by Reuters on Sunday. The third quarter was also characterized by significant weather challenges, with the nation experiencing eight storms, including Typhoon Bualoi, which inflicted estimated damages of 16.5 trillion dong ($625.5 million). Over the first three quarters of the year, GDP grew by 7.84% compared to the same period in the previous year, 2024. During this time frame, consumer prices recorded a year-on-year increase of 3.27%, with the inflation rate for September standing at 3.38%. The National Statistics Office is anticipated to publish a comprehensive set of economic data, including trade statistics, on Monday.
