Dutch September Inflation Confirmed at 3.3%

In September 2025, the annual inflation rate in the Netherlands increased to 3.3%, aligning with preliminary estimates and rising from 2.8% in August—the highest level since May. The most significant contributors to this upward trend were notable spikes in transport inflation, which jumped to 2.2% from 1.1% in August, and for upholstery and household appliances, which rose to 2% from 0.9%. Additionally, inflation pressures slightly escalated in sectors like food and non-alcoholic beverages (from 4.2% to 4.3%), housing and utilities (from 4.6% to 4.7%), as well as restaurants and hotels, which saw a significant leap from 1.3% to 5.2%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.1%, which was consistent with initial predictions, marking the first dip since May after a 0.2% increase in August. The harmonized consumer price index (HICP), excluding housing costs for EU-level comparisons, indicated a rise to 3% in September from 2.4% in August.
