North Macedonia Inflation Hits 4-Month Low

In September 2025, North Macedonia experienced a slight easing in its annual inflation rate, which decreased to 4% from August's 4.4%. This marks the lowest inflation level observed in the past four months. The primary factor contributing to this deceleration was a significant slowdown in the price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which dropped to 4.3% from the previous month’s 6.2%. Additionally, slower inflation rates were noted in sectors such as clothing and footwear (3% down from 3.3%), furniture, household goods, and routine household maintenance (5% from 5.3%), as well as restaurants and hotels (3.4% compared to 4.4%). However, some areas experienced accelerated price growth, notably housing and utilities (1.7% up from 1.2%), transport (5.7% versus 3.6%), and recreation and culture (7% compared to 5.8%). On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices saw a decrease of 0.2%, marking the first decline since March, following a 0.2% rise recorded in the previous month.
