Sweden Inflation Slows to 0.9% in September

Sweden's annual inflation rate moderated to 0.9% in September 2025, down from 1.1% in August, according to preliminary estimates. This figure fell short of market predictions, which anticipated a deceleration to 1%. Importantly, the inflation rate remains significantly beneath the Riksbank’s benchmark target of 2%. On a monthly scale, consumer prices held steady, contrary to expectations of a 0.2% increase, following a previous decline of 0.4%. In parallel, the Consumer Price Index with a fixed interest rate (CPIF)—the Riksbank's favored gauge of inflation—advanced 3.1% year-on-year. This rise was slightly below forecasts, which had expected it to maintain the 3.2% level observed in August. On a monthly basis, the CPIF recorded a 0.1% increase, which was also lower than the anticipated 0.3% rise, coming on the heels of a 0.2% dip in the preceding month.
