In August 2025, retail sales in the Czech Republic saw a 3.5% year-on-year increase, surpassing market forecasts of a 3.2% rise. This growth marks an acceleration from the previous month's revised gain of 2.2%. The primary contributors to this uptick were heightened sales of automotive fuel, which rose by 10.9% compared to July's 7.6%, and non-food products, which increased by 4.1% from 3.4%. Meanwhile, sales in food, beverages, and tobacco experienced a milder decline of 0.1%, an improvement from the previous month's 1.1% decrease. On a seasonally adjusted month-over-month basis, retail sales activities grew by 0.6% in August, bouncing back from a 0.4% decline in the prior period.
