Hong Kong's foreign exchange reserves fell to $419.2 billion in September 2025, down from $421.6 billion the previous month, indicating the third successive monthly reduction. These reserves accounted for more than five times the amount of currency in circulation and approximately 37% of the Hong Kong dollar M3. When accounting for unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets were $418.9 billion in September, compared to $421.1 billion in August 2025.
