Latvia Inflation Rate Steady at 4.1% in September

The annual inflation rate in Latvia remained steady at 4.1% in September 2025, matching the figures from the prior month and marking the highest rate observed in two years. Notably, the rate of price increases accelerated in segments such as housing, which rose to 4.1% from August's 3.6%; transport, which jumped to 2.6% from 0.3%; alcohol and tobacco, up slightly to 3.9% from 3.8%; health, increasing significantly to 3.7% from 2.7%; and restaurants and hotels, which climbed to 5.7% from 5.2%. Conversely, there was a moderation in price growth for food, which decreased to 6.8% from 7.5%; clothing and footwear, dropping to 1.4% from 1.6%; communication, easing to 3.3% from 3.8%; recreation and culture, falling to 2.3% from 3.6%; and miscellaneous goods and services, which declined to 1.4% from 3.8%. Furthermore, prices for furnishings decreased by 0.7%, following a 2.6% rise previously. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices in September increased by 0.2%, recovering from a 0.2% decrease observed the month before.
