Between June and August 2025, employment figures in the United Kingdom saw an increase of 91,000, following a larger rise of 232,000 in the previous quarter. This represents the smallest job growth observed in the past four months. The increase was largely driven by part-time positions and individuals aged 65 and over, but these gains were somewhat balanced out by a reduction in employment for those aged 16 to 64. On an annual basis, employment grew by 473,000, encompassing both full-time and part-time roles, and affecting employees as well as the self-employed. However, the employment rate for individuals aged 16 to 64 experienced a slight decline of 0.2 percentage points, bringing it to 75.1%. Additionally, the quarter saw a minor decrease in the number of people with second jobs, though this number climbed over the year to 1.323 million, representing 3.86% of the total workforce.
