Poland Trade Deficit Widens Slightly in August

In August 2025, Poland experienced a trade deficit of €2.15 billion, which slightly widened from the €2.11 billion deficit recorded a year prior. This change occurred as export growth momentum slowed following a three-month upward trend. Export figures declined by 1.4% year-on-year, reaching €25.0 billion. This downturn was primarily due to reduced sales of transport equipment, notably electric batteries, as well as decreased demand for consumer durables. However, these setbacks were somewhat mitigated by stronger exports of agricultural products, re-exports of clothing, and computer equipment. On the import side, there was a 1.2% reduction to €27.1 billion, largely due to a significant drop in fuel imports, attributed to lower oil prices. While most other import categories saw slight decreases, imports of passenger cars and consumer goods — such as clothing, footwear, and gaming consoles — continued to increase.
