RBNZ Adjusts Calendar to Shorten Gap Between Policy Sessions

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) announced on Wednesday its intention to reduce the interval between its November and December monetary policy meetings. According to the updated schedule from the central bank, there will now be a 10-week interval between the early December 2026 meeting and the subsequent one in mid-February 2027. In contrast, the interval between the final meeting of 2025 and the first one in 2026 stands at 12 weeks. RBNZ Chief Economist Paul Conway emphasized that the primary factor in scheduling these meetings is ensuring the availability of sufficient data to make well-informed decisions. "We recognize the perception that the gap between November and February is too extensive and have actively sought ways to minimize it within the limits of available data," Conway stated.
