In August 2025, Colombia experienced a 12.4% year-on-year increase in retail sales, marking a deceleration from the 17.9% rise noted in July and falling short of the anticipated 14% growth forecast by the market. Out of the nineteen categories examined, eighteen showed expansion. Notable growth was observed in sectors like information and telecommunications equipment, which surged by 51%, while motor vehicles and motorcycles intended for household use saw a rise of 27.5%. Additionally, other motor vehicles and motorcycles registered a 27.8% increase. The home appliances and furniture category grew by 23.1%, with sound and video equipment seeing an upturn of 29%, and food products experiencing a 6.2% increase. Conversely, fuel sales for motor vehicles decreased by 4.2%.
