In August 2025, construction output in the UK saw a 1.0% year-on-year increase, a slowdown from the revised 1.8% rise recorded the previous month and the most modest growth since January. Nonetheless, this marks the 13th consecutive month of expansion. New projects grew at their slowest pace in seven months, registering a 1.2% increase compared to 1.5% in July. Repair and maintenance activities also experienced a significant downturn, with growth at 0.7% versus 2.3% previously. On a monthly basis, construction output fell by 0.3%, following stagnation in August. This decline was primarily attributed to a 1.5% drop in repair and maintenance, although new work experienced a 0.5% rise.
