In August 2025, the approved building plans value in South Africa saw an 8.8% decline year-on-year, amounting to ZAR 8,097 million. This follows a revised 5.3% decrease from the previous month, marking the third consecutive month of downturn. The primary contributors to this drop were additions and alterations, which decreased by 22.0% compared to a 2.4% increase in July. Meanwhile, the non-residential sector also experienced a reduction, albeit at a slower pace than the previous month (-10.5% compared to -25.2%). In contrast, the residential sector remained unchanged compared to a 2.5% growth noted earlier.
