In August 2025, Hungary experienced an 8.7% year-on-year increase in gross wages, bringing the average to HUF 683,302, a slight deceleration from the previous month's 9.0% growth. This gradual slowdown in wage growth can be attributed to more moderate increases in both the public sector, which saw a rise of 9.3% compared to 10% previously, and the private sector, where wages increased by 8.5% as opposed to 8.7%. Conversely, the non-profit sector witnessed a continued rise in wages, climbing by 9.7% from 9.1%.
