Ibovespa Starts the Week Strong

On Monday, the Ibovespa index increased by 0.8%, closing at 144,509, driven by easing external risks and a series of company-specific catalysts. Fleury saw a significant decline of about 4% after refuting claims that discussions with Rede D’Or had been halted; this transaction is crucial to the market as Citi predicts it might enable Rede D’Or to access approximately R$10bn post-merger. Braskem rose by 1.8% following Camex’s decision to extend a 20% import tariff on PE, PP, and PVC until October 2026, a move that favors domestic resin margins and spreads. Vale advanced by 1.3% amid strengthening commodity signals, whereas Petrobras slightly declined by 0.3% as oil prices softened and a recent gasoline price adjustment for distributors did not meet market expectations. Utilities and major banks performed well, with notable contributions from Eletrobras, Sabesp, Itaú, and Bradesco.
