Baltic Dry Index at Over 2-Week Low

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, which monitors the rates for ships carrying dry commodities, experienced a decline for the fourth consecutive day on Monday, decreasing by approximately 0.8% to reach its lowest level since October 10, at 1,976 points. This drop was observed across all vessel categories. The capesize index, which commonly handles 150,000-ton shipments of materials like iron ore and coal, also saw a fourth day of decline, slipping by 1.2% to settle at 2,838 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, known for transporting 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, ended its 14-day upward streak, decreasing by 0.2% to 1,921 points. In the category of smaller vessels, the supramax index diminished by 8 points to reach 1,361 points.
