Chile's unemployment rate registered a decrease to 8.5% for the quarter spanning July to September, showing a reduction of 0.2 percentage points from the previous year and aligning with forecasts. The labor force expanded by 1.2%, which slightly lagged behind the 1.5% rise in employment. During this period, the count of unemployed individuals fell by 1.3%, attributed to a 1.4% decrease in those seeking employment, while the number of first-time jobseekers remained stable. Among women, the unemployment rate was 9.1%, a slight drop of 0.1 percentage point, with increases of 1.3% and 1.4% in labor force participation and employment, respectively. Female unemployment decreased by 0.2% due to a 0.4% reduction in jobseekers. For men, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 8.1%, with the labor force and employment figures growing by 1.2% and 1.5% respectively, resulting in a 2.1% decline in the rate of unemployment.
