Sensex Ends Almost Muted

India’s BSE Sensex concluded the session on Monday nearly flat at 83,978.5, as investors paused to consolidate gains following a robust rally in October. The session saw an increase in auto and state-owned bank stocks, which balanced out the decline in IT and private banking shares. Market participants remained focused on the earnings reports from both domestic and international fronts and are closely analyzing economic indicators, such as PMI surveys. The final analysis confirmed that India's manufacturing activity intensified in October, surpassing initial estimates. Notable among Sensex companies, Mahindra & Mahindra led the gains, advancing by 1.7% following the release of positive sales data for October, followed closely by Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. Also on the rise were shares of State Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, and Kotak Mahindra Bank, each increasing from 0.6% to 1.5%. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki experienced the steepest decline, dropping 3.4%. Other significant losers included ITC, Tata Consultancy Services, Larsen & Toubro, Bharat Electronics, and Titan, which saw decreases ranging from 0.5% to 1.4%.
