Vietnam Retail Sales Growth Eases to 1-Year Low

In October 2025, Vietnam experienced a 7.2% year-on-year increase in retail sales, a deceleration from the previous month’s impressive 11.3% rise—the highest in over two years. This recent figure represents the slowest retail sales growth since October of the previous year, attributed to a reduced rate of sales growth across all sectors. Specifically, trade growth saw a decline in goods (5.7% compared to 10.4% in September), accommodation and food services (14.1% down from 15%), travel and tourism (18.8% compared to 19.7%), and other services (9.4% versus 12.4%). On a monthly basis, retail sales increased by 0.2% in October, following a more substantial 2% increase in the prior month. For the period from January to October, retail sales were 9.3% higher than the same timeframe the previous year.
