France Current Account Swings to Deficit

In September 2025, France reported a current account deficit of €1.6 billion, transitioning from a downwardly revised surplus of €1.4 billion in August. The trade deficit in goods expanded to €5.5 billion compared to €3.7 billion the previous month. Concurrently, the surplus in the services sector contracted to €4.7 billion from €6 billion. On a more positive note, the primary income surplus saw a modest increase, reaching €3.8 billion from €3.7 billion, while the secondary income deficit remained consistent at €4.6 billion.
