In September 2025, retail sales in the Czech Republic experienced a year-on-year growth of 2.6%. This increase, however, fell short of the anticipated 4% rise and marked a deceleration from the revised 3.3% growth recorded in August. The primary factors contributing to the slowdown included a more modest rise in automotive fuel sales, which increased by 9.5% compared to 11% in the previous month, and a decrease in the growth rate of non-food product sales, which slowed to 2.8% from 3.7%. Moreover, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco products saw a decline, decreasing by 0.2% against a prior increase of 0.1%. On a seasonally adjusted month-over-month basis, retail sales activity decreased by 0.2% in September, a downturn from the revised 0.5% growth witnessed in the previous period.
