In October 2025, consumer price inflation in Moldova escalated to 7.0% on a year-over-year basis, slightly up from 6.9% in September. This increase was mainly influenced by a 6.8% rise in food prices, compared to 6.7% in the previous month, driven by higher costs for meat, vegetables, and milling and baking products. Inflation in the service sector also surged to 13.8% from the earlier 12.9%, primarily due to increased prices in utilities, household appliance repairs, and public catering services. Conversely, inflation for non-food goods moderated to 2.5% from 2.8%, largely as a result of reduced prices for fuel and lubricants, and slower growth in the cost of medicines and footwear. On a monthly comparison, consumer prices saw a 0.6% increase in October, building on a 0.1% rise recorded in September.
