Palestine Consumer Prices Post Largest Drop on Record

In October 2025, Palestine experienced a significant deflation in consumer prices, with a decrease of 17.08%, compared to a 17.65% increase noted in the prior month. This represents the most substantial deflation recorded, mainly due to the announcement of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. Prices saw a downturn across various categories: food and non-alcoholic beverages fell by 10.06%, a sharp contrast to the 41.6% rise in September; the category of alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and narcotics plummeted by 75.48% compared to a 66.02% drop previously. The housing and utilities sector decreased by 3.19%, following a staggering 221.91% rise in September. The costs for furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance dropped by 3.05% versus a 3.23% increase, health expenses saw a slight dip of 0.09% compared to 1.20% growth, while the recreation, sport, culture, gardens, and pets sector decreased by 3.75%, as opposed to a previous 3.14% decline. Finally, the category for miscellaneous goods and services fell by 2.12%, in contrast to a 2.89% increase. Month-on-month, consumer prices decreased by 23.04%, intensifying from the 8.0% reduction observed in September.
