In September 2025, average hourly earnings for all employees on U.S. private nonfarm payrolls increased by 9 cents, or 0.2%, bringing the rate to $36.67. This marked a deceleration from the upwardly revised 0.4% rise in August and fell just shy of market predictions, which anticipated a 0.3% rise. For private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees, earnings grew by 8 cents, or 0.3%, reaching $31.53. Over the past year, there has been a 3.8% increase in average hourly earnings for September, aligning with the revised pace in August and slightly exceeding analysts' projections of a 3.7% increase.
