Peru Economy Expands for 7th Straight Quarter

Peru's economy witnessed a growth of 3.4% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2025, an improvement from the revised 2.6% in the previous quarter, marking the seventh consecutive annual expansion. This growth was primarily bolstered by robust domestic demand, which increased by 6.6%.

Private consumption experienced a rise of 3.2%, up from 2.9% in the second quarter, spurred by higher employment rates and increased labor income. Government expenditure also saw an uptick, accelerating to 4.7% from 3.7%, largely due to increased spending on public administration, defense, public education, and healthcare sectors.

Gross fixed investment showed significant growth, climbing to 10.1% from 7.8%, with both public and private investments rising by 3.5% and 12.2%, respectively. In terms of trade, the net contribution to GDP was modest, with exports growing by 1.2% and imports surging by 11.6%.

Sector-wise, the output increase was mainly noted in the extractive industries with a 4.7% rise, while services expanded by 3.1%, and the manufacturing and transformation sector grew by 2.3%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the economy expanded by 1.2%.
