US Futures Rise to Start the Week

US stock futures experienced an uptick on Monday as Wall Street sought to rebound from a tumultuous week. Investors showed greater confidence in a Federal Reserve interest rate cut and displayed increased optimism regarding Nvidia's prospective export sales to China. Dow futures increased by 0.3%, S&P 500 futures by 0.4%, and Nasdaq 100 futures by 0.6%. On Friday, John Williams, President of the New York Federal Reserve, indicated that a short-term rate cut remains a viable option, as labor market fragility poses a larger threat than heightened inflation. The markets are now factoring in a roughly 69% likelihood of a 25 basis point rate reduction in December, up from 44% the previous week. Concurrently, reports surfaced suggesting that US officials have initiated preliminary discussions on the possibility of permitting Nvidia to sell its H200 artificial intelligence chips to China. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has been actively lobbying the Trump administration to ease export restrictions that have bolstered competitors in Chinese markets.
