CAC 40 Edges Higher on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the CAC 40 edged higher by 0.2%, reaching approximately 7,980 points, as it bounced back from the modest declines of the previous session. This upward movement was buoyed by investor optimism regarding a possible rate cut by the Federal Reserve. Current data from CME Group's FedWatch Tool indicates that the market perceives an 81.1% likelihood of a Fed rate hike in December. Within the banking sector, stocks saw an uptick, with Societe Generale leading the charge with a 1.5% increase. This was followed by gains for Credit Agricole and BNP Paribas, which rose by 0.5% and 0.6%, respectively. The defense sector also experienced a recovery, highlighted by Thales, which climbed 1.6% after enhancing its cybersecurity presence in Australia and New Zealand through Netpoleon's deployment of Imperva's data and application security solutions. Safran followed with a gain of 1.35%. Conversely, the session saw notable declines for Capgemini, Edenred, and Bureau Veritas, which fell by 1.5%, 1.3%, and 1.1%, respectively.
