Poland Retail Sales Growth Slows in October

Retail sales in Poland saw a year-on-year increase of 5.4% in October 2025, a softening from September's 6.4% rise, yet surpassing market expectations of a 3.7% increment. The growth rate for sales of motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts decelerated slightly to 15.0% from 15.6% in September. A similar deceleration was observed in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment sales, which grew by 4.4% compared to 5.6% previously, and also in food, beverages, and tobacco products, which inched up by 0.2% compared to September's 0.6% increase. In contrast, sales in newspapers, books, and other specialized stores made a modest recovery with a 0.1% rise, following a 3.3% decline in the previous month. Meanwhile, more robust sales growth was noted in the sectors of solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, which rose to 7.1% from 4.7%, in other goods at 3.3% up from 2.4%, in furniture, radios, TVs, and household appliances which surged to 16.1% from 13.9%, and in textiles, clothing, and footwear which increased significantly to 20.5%, up from 9.0%. These figures indicate sustained consumer demand in these areas. On a month-to-month basis, retail activity in October rebounded with a 6.7% increase, a notable recovery from the 2.7% decline observed in the previous month.
