Montenegro Trade Deficit Widens in October

Montenegro experienced a widening of its trade deficit in October 2025, reaching EUR 351.1 million, up from EUR 312.5 million in the same month of the previous year. This shift was influenced by a 6.5% decline in exports, which dropped to EUR 43.7 million, while imports saw an increase of 9.9%, rising to EUR 394.8 million. For the period from January to October, the trade deficit expanded to EUR 3,219.4 million compared to the same timeframe in the prior year. On a cumulative scale, exports suffered a 4.5% decrease, falling to EUR 458.1 million, primarily due to significant reductions in machinery and transport equipment (down by 32.2%), manufactured goods categorized by material (down by 17.1%), and beverages and tobacco (down by 8.1%). In contrast, imports rose by 7.9%, amounting to EUR 3,677.5 million, largely driven by increased purchases of beverages and tobacco (up by 10.1%), machinery and transport equipment (up by 10.1%), and food and live animals (up by 7.7%).
