Greece Credit Growth Slows to 10-Month Low

In October 2025, total credit extended to the Greek economy experienced a year-on-year increase of 5.4%, a slowdown from the 7.8% rise observed in September. This growth rate is the lowest since December 2024. Examining the private sector, credit growth slowed to 7.8% from the previous month's 10.7%. Notably, the monthly net flow of financing to the private sector turned negative, with a decline of €1.38 billion. This contrasts with September's positive flow of €2.17 billion. Additionally, credit to the general government decreased to 1.5% in October, down from 3.1% in September. The monthly net flow of financing to the general government was also negative, at €317 million, reversing a positive flow of €695 million recorded in the preceding month.
