In October 2025, Portugal's unemployment rate saw a slight decrease, settling at 5.9%, down from 6% in September. Concurrently, the labor force participation rate marginally declined to 69.6% from 69.9%, while the employment rate experienced a reduction, moving to 65.5% from the previous 65.7%. The number of unemployed individuals dropped by 7.3 thousand, reaching a total of 329.1 thousand, as employment figures also declined by 12.6 thousand, bringing the total to 5.279 million. Additionally, the labour underutilisation rate was recorded at 10.1%, a small improvement from 10.2% in the prior month. Comparatively, the unemployment rate stood at a higher 6.6% in the same period last year.
