Australia Commodity Prices Fall at Faster Pace

In November 2025, the Reserve Bank of Australia's Index of Commodity Prices experienced a 1.7% decline compared to the same month a year earlier. This follows a 1.3% decrease observed in October, marking the second month in a row of annual price reductions. The dip was primarily driven by lower prices for thermal coal, alumina, and liquefied natural gas, despite upward trends in gold and rural commodities. On a month-to-month basis, the index increased by 1.4%, slowing from a revised gain of 2.2% in October. This monthly growth was supported by increases across rural, non-rural, and base metals categories. In Australian dollar terms, the index saw a 1.5% year-on-year rise in November.
