FX.co ★ Austria Trade Balance Swings to Deficit in September

Austria recorded a trade deficit of EUR 0.23 billion in September 2025, a shift from a surplus of EUR 0.25 billion in the same month the previous year. This deficit marks the seventh consecutive month of negative trade balance as the growth in imports continues to surpass that of exports. Imports rose by 6.5% year-on-year, reaching EUR 16.79 billion. This growth included increases from EU countries by 5.9% and from non-EU countries by 7.7%. Concurrently, exports experienced a 3.2% year-on-year rise, totaling EUR 16.56 billion, with increased shipments to EU countries by 4.5% and a marginal rise in exports to non-EU countries by 0.4%.
