In November 2025, UK car production experienced a 14.3% decrease compared to the previous year, totaling 65,932 units. This marks the fourth month of consecutive declines, although production levels are gradually recovering following a cyber incident at the nation's largest car manufacturer. The decline included a slight 1.7% drop in passenger car production to 63,126 units, coupled with a significant 78% decrease in commercial vehicle production, which fell to 2,806 units—a reduction of 9,943 units from the previous year. Domestic market production saw a 46.9% increase, reaching 14,589 units, while export production decreased by 10.6% to 48,537 units. Exports to the UK’s top five trading partners—the EU, US, Türkiye, China, and Japan—all witnessed reductions. This data concludes a mixed week for the automotive sector, highlighted by the initiation of high-volume electric vehicle production in Sunderland. However, this progress is tempered by concerns over the European Commission's plans, which propose linking enhanced flexibility on CO2 emissions targets and public subsidies for fleet electrification to vehicles manufactured within the EU.
