Luxembourg's trade deficit expanded to EUR 1.10 billion in October 2025, up from EUR 0.81 billion in the same month the previous year, as the growth in imports significantly outpaced that of exports. Imports surged by 16% year-over-year, reaching EUR 2.46 billion, driven largely by substantial increases in the acquisition of machinery and equipment (up 123.8%) and food products and live animals (up 9.2%). France accounted for a major share of the imports at 7.7%. On the export side, there was a modest rise of 3.4%, bringing total exports to EUR 1.36 billion, thanks mainly to increased sales of other manufactured goods categorized by raw materials (up 6.8%) and machinery and equipment (up 1.3%). However, export growth was tempered by a notable 13.9% decline in the shipment of manufactured articles made of base metals. Germany and Belgium were the primary destinations for Luxembourg's exports, with increases of 0.8% and 10.8%, respectively.
