Danish Business Confidence Inches Higher

In December 2025, Denmark's manufacturing confidence indicator showed a slight improvement, rising to 90.1 from November's more than two-year low of 89.0. Despite this increase, it remained significantly below the long-term average benchmark of 100. This improvement was primarily driven by a more optimistic household sentiment about production, which rose to 8 in December from 2 in the previous month. This reflects a brighter outlook. Additionally, while expectations for employment became less negative, improving to -15 from November's -21, they remained in the negative for the fourth straight month. The comprehensive business confidence indicator, which includes manufacturing, construction, retail, and services, increased slightly to 101.9 from November's 101.2. Within this, confidence in the services sector saw an improvement, moving up to 106.3 from 104.5. However, there was a slight decline in construction confidence, which dipped to 100.6 from 101.1, and a notable weakening in retail confidence, which fell to 104.3 from 109.2.
