Brazil Consumer Confidence Hits One-Year High in December

In December 2025, Brazil's FGV-IBRE Consumer Confidence Index, adjusted for seasonal variations, rose to 90.2 from November's 89.8. This marks the peak level since December 2024. The Expectations Index saw an increase of 1.4 points, reaching 95.2—the highest it's been in a year. Among the components of expectations, households showed a slight improvement in their projected financial circumstances, inching up by 0.1 point to 93.0. Additionally, intentions to purchase durable goods saw a modest rise of 0.3 point, settling at 84.9. Significantly, the outlook for the future local economic situation climbed 3.6 points to 108.3, marking the highest level since September 2024. Contrarily, the Current Situation Index experienced a decline of 1.4 points, dropping to 83.4 following two months of consecutive gains. Evaluations of the present local economic conditions decreased by 1.7 points to 94.1, and assessments of households’ current financial situations fell by 1.0 point, reaching 73.1.
