In November 2025, Taiwan experienced a retail sales increase of 1.4% year-on-year, compared to a peak of 1.9% in the previous month. The sales growth showed a deceleration in various sectors such as food, beverages, and tobacco (3.2% down from 9.5% in October), cultural and recreational goods (falling to 4.8% from 17.6%), electronic shopping and mail-order sectors (1.1% compared to 3.7%), pharmaceutical and medical goods in specialized stores (0.9% down from 2.0%), and other specialized retail outlets (12.2% versus 12.5%). Conversely, there was a decline in sales for construction materials (-5.6% dropping from 0.5%), fuel and related products (-6.6% compared to a 0.9% increase previously), and non-store retail trade (-1.0% from 3.1%). However, sales saw acceleration in general merchandise stores (6.7% up from 3.0%), textiles and clothing in specialized outlets (growth to 6.7% from 2.1%), and the sector of information and communications equipment alongside electrical household appliances (increasing to 5.9% from 5.6%). On a monthly basis, retail activities surged by 6.5% in November, marking its most significant jump in eight months, following a 5.6% rise in October.
