Austria Producer Deflation Continues

In November 2025, Austria experienced a 1.3% year-on-year decrease in producer prices, extending the trend of falling prices for the eighth month in a row. This decline follows a 1.2% reduction observed in the prior month, primarily attributed to a more pronounced drop in energy prices, which fell by 5.2%, compared to a 4.2% decline in October. Furthermore, prices for intermediate goods dipped by 0.3%, though this rate of decline has decelerated relative to earlier months. On the other hand, the growth in prices for capital goods remained steady at 0.5%, while consumer goods prices continued to rise by 1.1%, as seen in October. Monthly analysis reveals a 0.3% increase in producer prices in November, driven largely by price hikes in the sectors of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply, which rose by 0.7%, and basic metals, which increased by 0.8%. These gains were partially counterbalanced by decreases in the prices of food products and chemical goods.
