Austria's unemployment rate climbed to 8.4% in December 2025, up from 8.2% in the same period the previous year, marking the highest level since January. The number of unemployed individuals increased by 10,133 from the previous year, bringing the total to 363,006, the highest in eleven months. Additionally, compared to November, there was an increase of 42,655 in unemployment figures. Analyzing by gender, the unemployment rate for women rose by 0.4 percentage points to 7.2% from December 2024, while the rate for men saw a marginal increase of 0.1 percentage points, reaching 9.6%. Furthermore, approximately 434,572 individuals were either unemployed or enrolled in training programs during December.
