Georgia Inflation Rate Slows to 6-Month Low

In December 2025, Georgia's annual inflation rate eased to 4%, down from 4.8% the prior month, reaching its lowest point since June. The deceleration in price increases was noted across several sectors, including food and non-alcoholic beverages, which slowed to 8.8% from November's 10.3%, health services decreasing to 7% from 8%, and education costs dipping to 2.1% from 2.3%. Similarly, the price growth in restaurants and hotels moderated to 6.9% from 7.2%, and miscellaneous goods and services saw a reduction to 5.1% from 5.3%. Meanwhile, there was a notable price drop in housing utilities, moving from a small increase of 0.3% to a decrease of 0.3%, and transport costs shifted from a 0.3% rise to a 0.6% decline. Deflation in the communication sector deepened to -4.7% from -4%, and a further contraction was observed in recreation and culture, with rates moving from -1.5% to -1.6%. Conversely, the costs for alcoholic beverages and tobacco remained steady at 4.4%, and prices for clothing and footwear showed no movement. On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices fell by 0.2% in December, after a 0.4% increase in the prior period.
