In December 2025, the number of individuals registering as unemployed in Spain dropped by 16,291 from the previous month, reaching 2.409 million. This decline contradicted market expectations of a 5,700 increase. Unemployment figures decreased notably in the services sector (-14,287) and agriculture (-1,531). In contrast, joblessness rose in the industrial sector (1,684) and construction (5,568). Remarkably, youth unemployment fell by 11,470, reducing the total to below 176,852, marking the lowest recorded level. Andalusia (-12,271), the Valencian Community (-2,173), and Madrid (-1,504) saw the most significant reductions in unemployment levels. Additionally, a separate report indicated that Spain added a net of 33,067 formal jobs in December, resulting in a total registered employment figure of 21.87 million.
