Colombia Inflation Eases for 2nd Month in December

Colombia experienced a reduction in its annual inflation rate, which fell to 5.10% in December 2025 from 5.30% in November. This figure was below the anticipated market expectation of 5.20%. This decline marks a turnaround following four months of escalating inflation, although price levels remain significantly above the central bank's 3% target. The most notable moderation in inflation was observed in categories such as food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.07% compared to 5.74%), housing (4.76% compared to 5.29%), and furnishings (3.31% compared to 3.50%). Conversely, inflationary pressures intensified in healthcare (rising to 7.20% from 6.88%), clothing (2.12% compared to 2.00%), recreation and culture (increasing to 1.85% from 0.57%), and transport (5.35% compared to 5.33%). Additional inflationary gains were noted in information and communication, restaurants and hotels, and miscellaneous goods and services, while the education sector remained steady at 7.36%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices saw a rise of 0.27%, up from November's 0.07% increase, although this was still below predictions of a 0.38% gain.
