France Industrial Output Falls in November

In November 2025, France experienced a slight contraction in industrial production by 0.1% from the previous month, following a 0.2% increase in October. This result was against the anticipated steady outcome. The extractive sectors, energy, and water services exhibited a downturn of 1.9%, contrasting with a 1.9% rise in October, primarily due to a decrease in electricity, gas, and steam production, which fell by 2.0% compared to a previous increase of 1.8%. Other sectors, including industrial products, food processing, and coking and refining, also saw reductions in production: industrial products declined by 0.3% after a slight increase of 0.1%, food processing decreased by 0.5% following a 0.1% rise, and coking and refining fell by 0.8% from a significant 3.6% gain. Conversely, manufacturing experienced a rebound with a 0.3% increase after declining by 0.1%, primarily propelled by a strong performance in the transport equipment sector, which surged by 2.6% compared to a 0.3% decrease in the prior month. Automotive production, in particular, showed a robust recovery of 2.7%, recovering substantially from a 4.1% decline, while other transport equipment rose by 2.6% after a previous 1.9% gain. Over the past three months, industrial production recorded an increase of 1.8%, with an annual growth of 0.3% in output.
