Mexico Auto Production Rebounds

In December 2025, car production in Mexico surged by 8.5% year-over-year, reaching 243,961 units. This increase marked a recovery from the 8.4% decline observed the previous month. The automotive sector experienced fluctuations, largely due to tariffs imposed by the United States on cars and parts, which created uncertainty concerning demand in Mexico, a key production base for U.S. consumers. Notably, significant gains were recorded by Ford, up by 55.6% to 34,811 units, and Stellantis, which rose by 28% to 33,412 units. However, despite this notable uptick towards the end of the year, the total car production in 2025 was 0.9% lower when compared to the previous year.
